Grade 3

English
In English, students are continuing their exploration of Matilda. They have completed a full narrative writing piece and are now developing persuasive arguments based on key themes from the text.
In addition to paragraph writing, students have been strengthening their sentence-level skills, with a focus on sentence types, topic sentences, and supporting details. Over the coming weeks, they will apply these skills as they plan and write persuasive texts.
Students are also continuing to build their fluency, handwriting, and spelling through daily practice.
Mathematics
In Mathematics, Grade 3 students have completed a unit on fractions. Throughout this unit, they have deepened their understanding of key concepts such as unit fractions (fractions with a numerator of 1) and have explored halves, quarters, thirds, fifths, and tenths.
Students are also continuing to develop their automatic recall of important number facts, with many progressing to more complex algorithms and mathematical skills.

Students work towards earning 200 Dojo Points, which they can redeem for a special reward—either a movie session or a delicious donut! There are other milestones, please see attached document.
