Literacy: We have been immersed in the world of explanation texts! We have looked at what makes an explanation texts, their features and purpose. Students have been practising writing facts in their own words which will be important for their inquiry research project in a few weeks time. The students have also been working hard on their understandings of grammar and types of sentences.
Numeracy:
This fortnight we have re-visited the concept of time. This can be a tricky concept! We have been proud of the students and their persistence, especially reading analogue time.
We have also moved onto learning about fractions and data representation. Check out our investigations into fractions below!
Inquiry:
We are well and truly immersed in our unit 'Blue Marble'. The students have looked at lifecycles of frogs and chickens as well as looking at ecosystems and how plants and animals work together in various environments. We are very excited for our excursion next week which will help inform us and guide us with our animal conservation projects in a few weeks! See the excursion information above!
Wellbeing:
We have continued with our topic 'Positive Coping'. These lessons have explored the levels of emotions we can feel. This week we have learned about coping mechanisms and things we can do to help us calm from anger. We have looked at an emotions wheel which has a large vocabulary of words to describe our feelings.
The Grade 3's are quickly becoming experts in the kitchen! They take great care to look after the garden, help in the kitchen with cooking and tend to the chickens!
We would like to say a heart felt thank you for everyone who came to visit our classrooms on Friday last week. It was so lovely to see everyone and we hope you all felt the love (as you should!) on Sunday. Here are some gorgeous pics from the day:
