The students are also learning about sentence structure, focusing on key components such as nouns and verbs. Maths

Currently in Maths the Preps are learning to:

  • Identify part part whole of numbers to 10
  • recognise and name the number of objects within a collection up to 5 using subitising
  • quantify and compare collections to at least 10 using counting and explain or demonstrate reasoning
  • describe the position and location of themselves and objects in relation to other people and objects within a familiar space

Inquiry

As part of our "Great and Small" unit, the Prep students explored the concept of imaginary animals by combining features of two real animals to create unique creatures. Students engaged in thoughtful discussions about whether they would like their imaginary animal as a pet, where it might live in the wild, and what it would eat. They then shared their creative ideas and designs with the class, showcasing their imagination and growing understanding of animal characteristics and habitats.

Wellbeing

During our Wellbeing lessons, students learned and practised strategies to help manage feelings of anger and frustration. We discussed the importance of staying calm when feeling upset and explored practical techniques they can use to regulate their emotions in challenging situations.

Buddies

The children thoroughly enjoyed their time outdoors in the sunshine, engaging in a range of activities such as crafting paper planes, sketching maps, participating in scavenger hunts, playing outdoor games, and creating nature-inspired crafts. This experience proved to be both enjoyable and enriching for the Preps and Grade Six students alike.
