Easter Prayer
Dear God,
Thank you for the miracle of Jesus' resurrection!
Help us to understand the joy and hope that comes from knowing He is alive.
As we celebrate Easter, fill our hearts with happiness and gratitude.
Teach us to love and follow Jesus every day.
Amen.
Dear Parents,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Seth Coonan last Sunday 20th April, a cherished former pupil of our school. Seth completed his primary schooling at St. Bernard's as did his younger sister Lilias.
Seth was a kind boy, studious, quiet and welcoming to all.
Many of our staff have fond memories of Seth, and all speak highly of him and the experiences they shared.
Seth's parents, Simon and Daniela were active members of our school community.
Seth will be buried this Friday and several staff will attend the funeral.
We ask that you join us in praying for Seth and family during this difficult time.
May God grant them comfort and peace.
ANZAC Day
Our student leaders marched and then laid a wreath on behalf of our school community on ANZAC Day. We thank Mrs. Bevan our Deputy and Ms Cummins our grade four teacher for supporting these children. Our student leaders displayed great pride representing our school and appropriate respect to our ANZAC'S.
Catholic Education week May 5th -9th
Next week we celebrate Catholic Education Week with the following two events.
Sandhurst Switches Off. May 7th
All Catholic schools and Catholic Education Offices will be encouraged to turn off their
lights and any other devices for part of the day or a whole day.
This action is symbolic of our commitment to the preservation of God’s fragile creation.
It is also symbolic of our solidarity with those who are suffering due to climate change.
Let us reimagine our partnership with all of creation.
Pilgrimage Walk
During Catholic Education Week our students will undertake a pilgrimage walk around our school, noting places of significance. This pilgrimage will allow our students to reflect on the theme of hope and faith also provide an opportunity to showcase the Catholic Identity markers in our school. The pilgrimage walk is an exciting and impactful way to involve our school community in Catholic Education Week.
Mother's Day
On Friday May 9th there will be a Mother's Day Breakfast beginning at 8.00am. Please see attached notice in the newsletter.
At 9.00am we will continue to celebrate Mother's Day with a Mass in the school hall.
We invite all those people who are special to our children to attend.
Election Day
On Saturday 3rd, St. Bernard's School Hall will be used as one of the voting venues for Wangaratta. Our Parents and Friends have organised a fundraising sausage sizzle on the day. If you are able to help with the barbeque between 8.00 am and 2.00pm.
Please contact the office 57214431 to be added to the schedule.
Have a great week
