Family Breakfast
Last Friday we celebrated Mother’s Day by opening both campuses early for families to come together and have a BYO breakfast. There was also an opportunity to have photos taken at the designated photo booths to create a ‘keep sake’ of the event.
It was lovely to see many families come together for this event to celebrate special family members. Thank you to our P&F Association for organising and running this event.
We hope all the mums out there also had a lovely Mother’s Day on Sunday.
Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS)
The AtoSS is a voluntary student survey offered by the Department of Education every year to help schools and the department understand students' experiences of school. We will ask your child about their thoughts and feelings about their school, their learning, relationships with other students, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general.
Our Year 4, 5 and 6 students will be invited to participate in the AtoSS between 12th May and 13th June. The survey will be conducted during class time using a purpose built secure online survey tool.
More information about the administration of the AtoSS has been shared directly to families of students in Year 4, 5 and 6 via Compass.
Molesworth Street Campus Traffic Safety Update
We are pleased to share that brand new balustrades are now in place on Harker St, and we have a lovely new School Crossing Supervisor, Trey, stationed on the Abbotsford St crossing (city bound side).
We thank members of our School Council who have been advocating strongly to ensure the safety of our students walking to and from school. It’s great to see these changes in place and we look forward to further changes in the upcoming year.
Looking Ahead…
Education Support (ES) Appreciation Day
On Tuesday 16th May we will celebrate the work our wonderful Education Support (ES) staff do at NMPS. Education Support Personnel Day is a day to honour and recognise the extraordinary contribution education support staff make to education.
We thank our ES staff for all that they do in classrooms, the office, the sickbay, across wellbeing, in the kitchen and garden, and in maintaining the school. Our school wouldn’t run as smoothly as it does without the support of each and every one of our ES staff members - so to the NMPS ES team we say THANK-YOU.
Education Week
Next week is Education Week (19th May to 23rd May). Education Week is an annual celebration of education in Victoria. This year’s theme is ‘Celebration of Cultures, which highlights the diversity of our community and the importance of every child feeling safe and welcome at school.
At NMPS we are celebrating Education Week with our Open Classroom events in each year level. Please refer to our Compass post to see what’s happening in your child’s classroom. We look forward to inviting parents into the classroom to share information about their family culture.
Curriculum Day – Friday 23rd May – Pupil Free Day
Next week teachers and ES staff will participate in our Term 2 Curriculum Day on Friday 23rd May. Teachers and ES staff will be focusing on unpacking the new Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0 and have time to work in collaborative teams to plan, moderate assessments and engage in professional learning. Friday 23rd May is a pupil free day therefore students are not required at school.
