Writing

From Lucinda and Lotte

This week in writing we have been learning independent and dependent clauses. We have found this very helpful, and we have been using them to make complex sentences. We’ve also learnt high modality words to use in our persuasive writing pieces. My favourite thing that we have done this week has been the C space planner which helps us plan our narratives. We been writing about a murder mystery and two cats who find a bird and chase it all the way into a big wall of doors. Thats all from us now. Hope you enjoy your week. See you later!

History

This week in History we started to learn about other people’s celebrations and cultures. We all chose a celebration and wrote facts about the celebration. We used our prior knowledge. We had boxes to fill out and write the important information about the celebration.

My celebration is BASTILEE DAY is a day for French people. My favourite part is when the military planes release powder that form the French flag - Victoria

My celebration is Eid and Eid is a celebration that Muslim people celebrate. My favourite part is when we get money and candy and I get to eat all - Karmen

My celebration is lunar new year mainly Chinese or Vietnamese people celebrate it and my favourite part is eating fried pork and getting free money - Kieralyn

Maths

From Damien and Ted

For the last two weeks maths classes has been a blast we have learned about multiplication and division and we learnt how to use a new app called TimesTables rockstars.

TimesTables rockstars

First, on TimesTable rockstars there are are some pretty amazing players in my class but they are not the very top of the list of the school in TimesTable rockstars YET but some are getting very competitive with their new app. The app has some really cool game modes like rock slam where you get to go one on one, then there is arena mode where you can play against your peers and last there’s festival mode we’re you can play with people from around the globe .

Multiplication and division

We have been learning how to use different methods to solve multiplication and division problems such as the split strategy and the grid method where we split the problem into smaller problems that we can solve with ease. We have also learned how to partition the problem into small chunks. We have been working on making models to make things easier.
