Term 2 Week 2 Newsletter

A very warm back welcome to Term 2, a term which promises great learning and excitement at St Nicholas School.

My pride in St Nicholas' start to Term 2 can be reflected in the way our school commemorated ANZAC Day.  ANZAC Day is a day with so much significance for Australians, where we are provided with the opportunity to stop and thank those who have given their lives to for us to have the freedom and lifestyle which we enjoy.

For those who managed to witness our children marching last week, I trust you were filled with the same pride I experienced. Our children’s engagement, respect and reverence reflected the importance of ANZAC Day, a poignant reminder that our students were not ‘celebrating’ ANZAC Day as they marched, rather ‘commemorating’ this momentous day in our calendar.

Farewell and good luck to Miss Maher

In what is some sad news for us, but very exciting news for Miss Maher, I would like to congratulate Grace on her teaching appointment at Tilal International School in Sharjar, UAE, commencing Term 3.

Grace has been a wonderful asset to our staff over the past 4 years. During this time she has had a positive impact on the students in her care, and her colleagues on staff. Grace possesses great skills in connecting with her students, and has worked collaboratively in many teaching teams to improve the learning, faith and wellbeing outcomes of our students.

Whilst we are sad to see her go, we are incredibly excited for her. We wish her all the very best for the future and every success in her new role.

A recruitment process has commenced to find a suitable replacement. I look forward to sharing this news with parents in due course.

Mother’s Day

We would like to take this opportunity to invite all our mothers, grandmothers, aunts and friends to join us for breakfast tomorrow morning, Friday, 9th May from 7:30am to celebrate Mother's Day with a Muffin with Mum.  This is just a small gesture in which we wish to acknowledge the wonderfully supportive and loving women in our lives. For those who wish to continue our celebration, there will be a Mother's Day Mass held at 9:30am in the Undercroft for those able to join us.

Throughout the day tomorrow, children will also have the opportunity to purchase a gift for their mothers at our Mother’s Day stall, during their allocated class time in the auditorium.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank William Wong from Esteem Kids for his donation that has helped purchase the gifts to be sold at the stall.

Winter Uniform

Finally, a reminder that even though we are still experiencing some pleasant and mild autumn weather, all students are required to wear their full winter uniform by next week. If you are in need of any items, please come in and visit our clothing pool as we have a great selection of donated uniforms for both boys and girls.  Please note that the tie is a compulsory part of the winter uniform.

Wishing you all a wonderful week, and happy Mother's day to all our special Mums in our St Nicholas community.
