Grade 5 Report

Grade 5 Camp!
Last week, the Grade 5 students went on a 3-day camp to visit Sovereign Hill and Log Cabin Camp. It was an unforgettable adventure that combined history, fun, and teamwork. The first stop was Sovereign Hill, where we travelled back in time to the 1800s. We learned about the gold rush and even got to try panning for gold! We stood by the stream with our pans, carefully sifting through the dirt, hoping to spot a little nugget of gold!
Next, we headed to Log Cabin Camp for more adventure. We kicked things off with a movie night, which was a great way to relax after the busy day. The real excitement began with activities that pushed us out of our comfort zones, like the giant swing, zip line, and milk crate stacking. We worked in teams to hoist a friend up in the air and help them stack crates. Orienteering and an initiative course helped us learn the importance of collaboration and problem-solving.
The disco was another highlight! We danced to the latest hits, played games, and had a blast. On the final day, we got to build huts out of logs and sticks in teams. Afterward, we made damper on the campfire, a traditional bread cooked over the flames and enjoyed it with some delicious Billy Tea.
Although we were sad to leave, we were also happy to head home, knowing we had learned so much, faced new challenges, and made lasting memories with our friends. Grade 5 camp was an experience none of us would ever forget, and we couldn’t wait to share our stories with our families when we got home.
