Assistant Principal's Report

Welcome back!

I hope everyone had a restful break and is ready for an exciting Term 2.  After a short first week, we are ready for all the learning, activities, and events coming up in what will be a very busy term for both teachers and students.

Grade 5 Camp

The Grade 5 children started Term 2 with their three-day camp at the Creswick Log Cabin. After a day at Sovereign Hill, and then two days packed with fun filled activities, the students looked very tired when they returned on Thursday afternoon. Hopefully they used the long weekend to rest and recharge.

Interschool Sport

Our Term 2 Interschool Sport program begins on Friday, and we look forward to seeing our students show great sportsmanship and teamwork when representing our school each week.

Portfolios

The student Assessment Portfolios have been sent home for you to look at with your child. Please complete the ‘parent signature’ page by writing a positive comment to your child about the work that they have completed so far this year and return the portfolio to your child’s teacher once this has been done.  Portfolios should be returned by Friday 09 May.

Secondary School Placement

Application forms for secondary school placement have been emailed to the parents of all of our Grade 6 students. If you did not receive the forms, please contact the school as soon as possible.  Parents have until Friday 09 May to return their child’s secondary school application forms.

Once we have received the forms, we will send them off to the school parents have listed as the first preference. If a child is not accepted to their first preference, the form will be sent to the second preference. If a child is not accepted by any of their nominated choices, the form will then be sent directly to their closest school. Parents will receive notification of their child's Year 7 placement on Tuesday 01 July 2025.

It is strongly recommended that parents of our Grade 5 students attend Information Sessions and school tours this year. It is a big decision, so it is important to gain as much information as possible about all of the secondary schools before you make the decision.

Democracy Sausage Sizzle

A reminder that our Election Day BBQ and cake stall will be held on Saturday 3 May. Volunteers are still needed to help with the BBQ, either setting up, packing up, or selling sausages during the day.

Cake donations are also welcome and can be dropped off from 8am Saturday.

Use the Sign-up link below to register for a shift. Shifts run for two hours starting at 8am and finishing at 2pm. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Education Week

In 2025, Victoria will celebrate Education Week from Monday 19 May to Friday 23 May (Week 5).

This year’s theme Celebration of Cultures highlights the diversity of our communities and the importance of every child feeling safe and welcome at school.

All year levels will send out invitations to families inviting them to pop in for a visit throughout the week. We hope to see lots of you visiting your child’s classroom during Education Week.

We’re looking forward to a fantastic term ahead!

Regards

Dale Adams,

Assistant Principal.
