Main Campus - Year 4

It’s been a very busy fortnight for Year 4 students!

In Literacy, we have been reading Jeannie Baker books as part of our Author Study. Students have begun working on the Premiers Reading Challenge, reading books and adding in book reviews online. We have until September to read 15 books.

In Maths, we have been learning about the equals sign and filling in missing numbers in equations. This week we have started working on finding the most efficient strategy when solving addition equations.

As part of our Inquiry, we have been learning about Australia’s place in the world, including identifying continents, countries and oceans.

This week, we participated in Swimming Lessons at the Kyneton Sports and Aquatic Centre. Students learnt about pool and water safety, rips, tides and dangerous creatures in the ocean, as well as participating in swimming lessons. A big thank you to all those parents who have helped across the week. Thank you also to the swim teachers at KSAC for running such a fantastic program for schools.

It was an absolute pleasure to see so many Year 4 students participate in the CDSSA Cross Country at Hanging Rock on Tuesday. We witnessed some great dedication, persistence and true sportsmanship. Well done to all students!

We are excited that next Thursday, 15th of May, is change over day for 4LS and 4SM!

4SM will then be at Carlsruhe for the remainder of the year. 4LS will head back out to Carlsruhe towards the end of Term 3. 4AD will stay at Carlsruhe to teach 4SM the ropes!

Could students in 4LS and 4SM please bring in an extra bag (reusable shopping bags are perfect) to school by next Tuesday to help transfer books between the two campuses. Thank you!

On Thursday the 24th of April, we learnt about the importance of ANZAC Day and the difference between the red and purple poppies. We made poppies for our new memorial garden and did a silhouette picture. Many students shared their family connection to ANZAC Day and it was wonderful to see Year 4 students join in the Woodend ANZAC Day March.
