H2GP

H2GP PROGRAM
This year, the Like Minds class has two H2GP teams with a mix of year 7 and 8 students. This program is an optional event for students with a curiosity towards technology and problem solving. Along the way they learn teamwork, leadership and other important life skills.
So, what is the H2GP? The H2 Grand Prix is a worldwide initiative that challenges the innovators of tomorrow to design, build and race hydrogen-powered RC cars. First, they receive the starter kit and learn the ropes of how to set the cars up. After the cars are able to be driven, they get to be creative and design the chassis and make modifications to enhance not only looks, but the efficiency and durability of the cars.
There are some returning members from the previous year to help guide the rookies and tell them what it’s all about. Some highlights from last year include the sleep over the night before the big race, the bus trip to the Toyota Centre in Altona North, meeting the teams, and the free hot chocolate stand (who got visits from the same people more than once)!
Overall, this year is looking good, and everyone is excited to see what will happen. On Monday the teams will be meeting at the Gippsland Tech School to broaden their knowledge on the race.
Special Thanks to the Martin Carlson Foundation
We would particularly like to extend our sincere thanks to the Martin Carlson Foundation for their generous sponsorship of our H2GP (Hydrogen Grand Prix) teams. Their support plays a crucial role in enabling our students to explore innovative STEM opportunities, develop real-world engineering skills, and participate in exciting, sustainability-focused competitions. We are incredibly grateful for their commitment to empowering the next generation of changemakers.
