Welcome Back!

Writing:

In writing students will:

  • focus on composing procedure texts by following the correct structure (title, materials, steps, etc.)
  • emphasize the importance of using clear and precise language features suited to procedures, such as action verbs, present tense, and numbered steps
  • encourage students to be direct and concise in their writing for clarity and effectiveness.

 

Reading:

In reading students will:

  • develop skills in making connections, such as text-to-self, text-to-text, and text-to-world
  • encourage active questioning to deepen comprehension and foster curiosity about the text
  • dive into poetry analysis, exploring themes, language, and emotions
  • continue supporting students as they work toward their individual reading goals, tailored to their personal development.

Maths:

In maths student will:

  • explore number bonds to 20 to strengthen their understanding of relationships between numbers
  • practice adding numbers within 20, starting with bridging strategies and then progressing to no bridging
  • focus on adding multiples of 10 for fluency and accuracy
  • develop skills in reading and writing 3- and 4-digit numbers with confidence
  • practice comparing and partitioning 3- and 4-digit numbers to understand the value of each digit
  • order and compare the length of objects using appropriate tools and units
  • apply knowledge of length to solve real-world problems effectively. 

 

Inquiry:

In inquiry students will:

  • focus on understanding the fundamental principles of bike safety, including the correct use of helmets, signaling, and checking equipment before riding
  • learn the rules for riding safely in a shared community, such as respecting pedestrians, following traffic signals, and maintaining awareness of surroundings
  • apply bike safety knowledge to simple scenarios by practicing strategies for navigating intersections, riding near others, and managing unexpected situations.

 

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL):

In SEL students will:

  • develop problem-solving skills by learning to identify challenges, think critically, and explore possible solutions
  • focus on conflict resolution strategies, such as active listening, using kind words, and finding peaceful ways to resolve disagreements
  • encourage students to practice working together and respecting others' perspectives in group activities
  • build confidence in handling everyday conflicts, helping students navigate friendships and teamwork effectively.

REMINDERS   

  • School starts at 8:50 and finishes at 3:10 - please make sure you are on time   
  • Please provide, drink bottle, fruit snack, lunch and recess snack each day   
  • Students are to bring their hats EVERYDAY. In Term 1, we have a No Hat, No Play policy to keep all students safe from the sun   
  • Use the SENTRAL app to notify the school of any absence   
  • Red folders are to be returned to school each day for notes and home readers
