AUSLAN

This term in AUSLAN, students will continue to build on their communication skills by exploring a range of new vocabulary and cultural insights. They will deepen their understanding of Deaf culture, learning about the values, history, and experiences of the Deaf community, and how these shape communication in AUSLAN.

Throughout the term, students will expand their signing vocabulary to include expressions for feelings, common greetings, and everyday questions, as well as signs for household items.

In addition, they will explore topic-specific signs such as sea animals, days of the week, months of the year, and numbers up to 100. Weather-related signs will also be introduced, helping students to discuss daily conditions and seasonal changes. To consolidate their learning, the final week of the term will be dedicated to reviewing all the signs and concepts covered. Students will take this opportunity to reflect on their progress and celebrate how far they’ve come on their AUSLAN journey!
