It's in the Bag

The Effect of “It’s in the Bag  Charity” By Remy Fernando

Thank you for the amazing support and donations that our incredible St Mary’s community have provided us with for the It’s in a Bag Charity. We raised $673 form our gold coin donations and there are more products still coming in with another two weeks to go!

This has been an initiative led by Mrs Moxon and the Year 5 and 6 girls. It helps teenagers, mums with babies and women living with domestic violence or who are  homeless. To help by donating them everyday products!

How does this help?

This charity helps by giving women who are struggling. A little thing like period products or essential day to day products which could help all the women in a range of charities. You can also buy them a nice personal bag for them to carry around with all the products you supply just in time for Christmas.

Why do I feel passionate about it?

I picked this charity because the year 5 and 6s girls are currently working on it. We are hoping to get loads of products and bags to help this charity. I am passionate because I watched a video of the receivers from It’s in a Bag Charity , and they were very surprised and thankful to have this heartwarming gift. I felt really motivated to be a part of this great fundraising activity because I  realised that I take it for granted that I  get items like shampoo, toothpaste, etc., whenever I need it so I was really excited to help.  After the year 5-6 chat about this charity I  went home and started to look for products. Soon enough I was bursting with excitement to grab the products and make two bags. I felt really good inside donating knowing I helped someone in need.

Who made this charity?

You're probably thinking who made this charity? The founder is Richelle Courtney. In  2015 Richelle started to donate sanitary items to other charities to give females dignity. Then she started questioning, “Why is no one doing anything?” and “What’s stopping me from anything?” so she took matters into her own hands and she created It’s in a Bag Charity! Now she has been getting lots of donations since.  It's amazing how she realised straight away what she had to do, to help these women who are struggling to give them products.

I couldn’t be any happier to help this fondation so I hope you start to get how I feel by donating something too!
