- Daily Check-Ins: Ask your child what made them smile today or if anything was hard for them to deal with. This builds emotional awareness.
- Model Kindness: Small acts of kindness, even at home, teach children the value of empathy.
- Celebrate Progress: Recognize efforts, not just achievements as it helps build confidence and resilience.
Wellbeing Activities to Try at Home
(Here are a few fun and simple activities to help boost wellbeing at home)
1. Gratitude Jar
What You’ll Need: A jar, small pieces of paper, and a pen.
Each day, have your child write or draw one thing they’re grateful for and add it to the jar. At the end of the week, read them together as a family.
2. Feelings Charades
Take turns acting out different emotions (happy, sad, frustrated, excited) while others guess. This helps kids build emotional awareness and empathy.
3. Mindful Breathing
Practice “rainbow breathing” together. Breathe in deeply while tracing the arc of a rainbow with your hand, then breathe out as you complete the rainbow. Repeat a few times to feel calm and centred.
Thank you for being such an important part of your child’s wellbeing journey. Together, we can create a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for them to flourish.
