STEM: Stop Motion Animations

Amazing Animations!

This term during STEM the students have been creating stop motion animations. This is a form of animation where props are posed, a photograph is taken, props are repositioned, a photograph is taken, and so on. When viewed consecutively, these photographs create the illusion of movement!

Students recognised this form of media from many famous stop motion animations such as Wallace and Gromit and Shaun the Sheep. Whilst these animations use clay, our students used paper cut-outs to create their own original animations.

Here are some photographs of the students engaged in the animation process, including:

  1. Storyboarding their original narratives
  2. Creating their original props by making paper cut-outs
  3. Animating their finished creations with the help of Miss J-M’s iPad

Many of the students have been inspired to continue creating animations, including those that have been spotted voluntarily designing new props during their play time. Perhaps some shall create sequels during the holidays!

Wishing you all a peaceful and safe holiday break.
