We had a number of students ‘locked up’ on Thursday.

It was great. It was part of our Year ⅘ buddy activity with local police, with a visit to Endeavour Hills Police station and a tour of all the workings of a police station. Students got to take their fingerprints, wear Police Vests, see how calls are taken and how interviews are conducted. They were even shown the cells, (which of course were empty).

This was incredible to watch, as our students genuinely enjoyed seeing the Police Officers as everyday people, and the Police Officers loved seeing the joy the students brought.

Joy is so important, and the antidote to a lot of what is happening in society. Whilst we should never expect joy to be a constant state, we need moments of it!

The Catholic faith uses Advent, as a time of preparation, a time of waiting for a joyous occasion. Sometimes, the waiting and the anticipation is the greatest part, the event can be a let down!

The challenge in our world is we want it now. It is something that faith teaches, delayed gratification. It is important for us to teach at school. It is important for all of us, that with a little waiting, that joy awaits!

It invites us to reflect, what brings us joy.

I’d like to thank Pauline for leading whilst I was on Long Service for a couple weeks.

It was wonderful news that our school won a Monash Health Award, recognition for the hard work being put in by the whole team to improve outcomes for students.

We welcome our new Preps on Wednesday, double the number than previous years, which is exciting and shows the school is on the rise!

We look forward to celebrating with you all, this Thursday night. It promises to be an exciting celebration!

A reminder that school finishes on the 17th at normal time. Graduation for Yr 6s will be held on the 16th, a note has been sent home. School starts next year on the 29th of January for Year 1-6, and Preps start on the 30th of January.
