We have had a fun-filled 2024 in Technology - and Term 4 has been no exception.

The Prep, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students have been learning all about Food Technology. We have discussed the different food groups, how various foods can help our bodies and where food (and fibres) come from. We also visited the kitchen, discussed safety/hygiene and used produce from our school garden to make a recipe. The Preps made cheese and herb muffins; the Grade 1s and 2s made Garden Nuggets with broccoli and cauliflower.

This term the Grade 3 and 4s continued to build on their coding skills, using various robots including VEX123 and Ozobots. We revised the coding blocks we already know and explored conditional blocks such as if/then or if/then/else. These blocks will have different outcomes depending on whether certain conditions are met. We have been really impressed with students extending their coding knowledge. The second part of Term 4 has been spent designing a new product that will help us to enjoy our favourite leisure time activities.

The Grade 5 and 6 students spent the first part of the term exploring digital systems (computers, chromebooks etc) and their internal and external parts. We used micro bits to further develop our coding and debugging skills. The Grade 5 and 6 students are currently using their imagination and creativity to work through the Engineering Design Process to create or improve a product.

We can't wait to see what 2025 in the Technology space will bring!
