Principal's Report
Dear HPS Community,
I hope that all our families enjoyed the long weekend and break from school routine. There was certainly some lovely weather to get out and about in to enjoy!
Staff had a productive day on Monday with professional learning completed, planning and assessment occurring and many resources created.
Our three day week with students was jam packed with lots of learning and events to enjoy.
The Year 2 classes embarked on a fun and cooperative Little Explorer's Day on Thursday, where they completed activities designed to build resilience and team work. Part of the day was also to walk over to Possum Hollow playground to enjoy a picnic lunch together and explore the opportunities at the park and oval. I wandered over to enjoy a slide and kick of the soccer ball for a little bit and it was wonderful to see the smiles on faces and hear the excited chatter. Thank you to the Year 2 team for planning this wonderful event.
Congratulations to the Year 3/4 boys and girls basketball teams who competed in the Regional Hoop Time competition today.
Both teams played brilliantly and progressed out of the group pool to finals. The boys lost by a small margin but the girls managed to stay undefeated to book their place at the State Championships next month. Fantastic effort by all. Thanks to Ethan Griffiths, Chris Chan and Toby Barker who supported and coached the teams.
Our next assembly will be on Monday 11th November at 10.50am. It will be held in front of the flag poles on the tiger turf basketball court, for Remembrance Day. Our student leaders will run this very special assembly, which will take place instead of our usual 9am assembly.
End of Year Community Gathering
The HPS traditional end of year celebration, where students perform a song, usually a Christmas carol, is being broadened this year in an aim to be inclusive of all families and their culture, whether they celebrate Christmas or not.
On Thursday 5th December, we invite all our HPS community to come along, mingle with other families and enjoy student performances that incorporate some Christmas carols but also some songs that focus on celebrating!
Our wonderful Community Engagement team are finalising some details for the evening but we encourage everyone to put the date on their calendar, come along on the evening and join together as a whole community to enjoy student performances and a casual evening of mingling with others. More info to follow.
