2025 Parent Payments, School Saving Bonus and More! 

2025 Parent Payments and Student Resources Pack Orders 

School Council have now approved the Parent Payment Arrangements and Student Resources Packs for 2025 and full information was sent home with students and posted on Compass. 

For your convenience, contributions towards the 2025 Parent Payment and Building Fund can be made when ordering your child's 2025 book pack via the COS portal.

COS offers a range of payment options, including; Visa, Master Card, PayPal, American Express and PayPal's ‘Pay in 4’.

Please note: Parent Payments and Building Fund donations can also be made directly to the school office at any time.

Public Schools are largely funded by the Department of Education. Financial contributions from families does not fund things like Principal, teacher and education support staff salaries, casual replacement teacher salaries, utilities, repairs and maintenance of buildings and grounds, or compliance works etc. 

Financial contributions from families (Parent Payments) fund things like resourcing the Art room to supply students with fun and engaging art supplies that enable students to create and construct amazing pieces of art. It enables the school to engage external suppliers to deliver curriculum-related immersive incursions and days, such as Indonesian Day, 'Preparation for Puberty' sessions and externally hosted school sports and cross country days. It assists classroom teachers to purchase items like coloured paper and other consumable supplies for student use. It contributes to supplying the first aid room with items to adequately provide first aid to students. The Parent Payment also provides learning areas such as the English area to purchase replacement take home readers for student use and the supply of numeracy classroom supplies such as maths counters, MAB blocks etc.

$400 School Saving Bonus Update

Next week, all families will receive an email from the Department of Education detailing their unique $400 School Saving Bonus Code. Once the code is received via email, families may log into the SSB Portal to make a selection on how they wish to allocate the bonus for use. 

If you have multiple children enrolled in Victorian government schools for 2025, you will receive one School Saving Bonus code email per child. These emails might arrive on different days. Please make sure to check your spam/junk email folder.

To access the portal, families will require the Code and the email address that it was sent to. Families may wish to direct the bonus to their school account to assist in paying for school excursions, camps and other activities occurring throughout the year. Another to purchase new school uniform items, online or in-store, from our uniform supplier - Beleza School Uniforms (please note: School Council have recently completed a whole school uniform refresh. Updated uniform items will not be available through Beleza until next year).

Unfortunately, the SSB cannot be used for the purchase of 2025 Student Resources Packs or the 2025 Parent Payments.

The School Saving Bonus is available for parents and carers of all Victorian government school students from Prep to Year 12 in 2025, except for full-fee international students.

Final Day of Term 4 (and the 2024 school year)

The final day for students for the 2024 school year will be Thursday 19th Dec 2024. After the final whole school assembly, students will be dismissed at the usual time of 3.30pm on this day.

We have scheduled the final Student Free Day for Friday 20th Dec, where staff will consolidate their year and finish off with some staff wellbeing activities. 

Volunteers & Parent Helpers Morning Tea

On behalf of the staff and students at Newtown PS, we would like to invite our Parent Helpers and Volunteers to a special morning tea, provided by our school staff.

If you have volunteered your time in any capacity this year (attending excursions, helped in the garden/grounds or attended working bees, assisted with fundraising, are a member of School Council etc), we would love for you to come along to morning tea on Tuesday 10th Dec, to allow us to express our gratitude to you for supporting the staff and students at our great school in 2024!
