Alek Lual's Nursing Traineeship

Term 4, 2024

Alek Lual, a Year 10 student, has begun a school-based traineeship in Nursing with the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital. Her journey started with an orientation on the 15th of November, followed by her official first day of work the following week.

Mr Forbes-Taber accompanied Alek on her first morning to complete the necessary sign-up process. It was wonderful to witness the incredible support surrounding students in this program. As part of her traineeship, Alek will work one day per week at the hospital while studying for a TAFE Certificate III in Nursing Assistance and completing her HSC at school.

The application process was highly competitive, but Alek excelled in her interview and submitted an outstanding application. MLHD coordinators were deeply impressed by Alek's professionalism, stating that her exceptional presentation made her the obvious choice for the role.

This is one of many VET pathways that the College has been able to support this year. Students have successfully engaged in courses ranging from full TVET courses to shorter intensive programs throughout the year in partnership with TAFE NSW and other providers.

Congratulations, Alek! The College is incredibly proud.
