Mindshop Workshop
Last week, six of our Year 10 students were invited to participate in the Mindshop Excellence Program through Commerce Ballarat.
Mindshop is a structured work experience program which involves a team of students being placed into a host organisation for one week. Acting as company ‘executives’ for the week, the students are given a real issue to solve and present their findings and recommendations to management. This year our students were hosted by the Red Lion Hotel.
The issue the students were presented with was the difficulty faced by The Red Lion Hotel (and many other employers) in attracting and retaining staff since the COVID epidemic. The students conducted their own research, interviewed staff and management and worked with their Mindshop mentor to develop effective and workable strategies which they presented to the management team.
On the final day, students from all six schools involved in Mindshop delivered a summary of their project at a presentation ceremony at BGT attended by family, friends, school staff and host employers.
Our sincere thanks go to Chris and Julie Mason, the Mindshop Excellence program founders, Commerce Ballarat for facilitating the program and The Red Lion Hotel for hosting our students.
