Term 3 - Amazing!

     District Athletics

On Thursday, some talented students from Grades 3-6 represented Kalinda at District Athletics. These students had done particularly well at our House Athletics Carnival earlier this term and were selected to represent our school. The day was held at Bill Stewart Athletics Track in Nunawading and we competed against 9 other schools in our district.

We braved some rainy conditions and showed resilience and flexibility as event times got changed around. Despite these minor hiccups, we all had a really fun day!

It was so great to see kids cheering everyone on and congratulating each other on their efforts.

All results are combined to determine a winning school on the day. Kalinda Primary School did extremely well and came 3rd in Field events, 5th in Track and 4th place overall. We are really proud of this achievement.

There were some students who had outstanding individual results. The following students came either 1st or 2nd in their events and will progress through to the Divisional level. Congratulations to Ashly, Chloe, Mia, Renee, Pia, Fraser, Lochie and Darcy.

We wish these kids all the best at Division.

A special thank you to any parents who offered their help and supported our school and their children on the day.

Grade 5/6 Hooptime

It had been a long time coming for our Grade 5/6 students who finally got to compete in their first ever Hoop Time experience. Hoop Time is a school Basketball tournament in which students attend trials and are placed in teams, on the day they play several mini-basketball games against other schools, and if successful are given the opportunity to play finals and progress through to the next level.

This event always proves to be very popular amongst the students at Kalinda, they look forward to it right from the start of the year. We had a very large number of Grade 5/6 students try out, however, unfortunately, we are restricted on numbers and couldn’t take everyone. I again congratulate all students who attended these tryouts and gave it their best go.

On the day all our teams played very well together, their skills and their ability to work together as a team really improved from their first to last match. The students showed great sportsmanship as they cheered one another on and showed great respect towards their opposition and referees.  We had three out of our seven teams play finals, which is an outstanding effort.

A very big thank-you to Nat, Adam, Ian, Dave and Anthony, our Kalinda parents who volunteered to coach a team. We as a school wouldn’t be able to register as many teams as we do if we didn’t have this parent help, so we really appreciate your support.
