50th Anniversary Afternoon Tea

On Sunday 13 August, 140 ‘old friends’ of MECS gathered to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the school. The invited guests represented founding Association and Board members, past Principals, past staff, long-term present staff and other VIPs. It was an opportunity to focus on the long tradition of governance of our school, as well as the importance of the strong vision that sits at the heart of who we are and what we do. We also launched a video that we have been working on for some time that captures this, and we look forward to sharing this with all our school community in Term 4. It was a fabulous ‘reunion’ and time of celebration!

Journey Through Time

The highlight of this week has been our Secondary production, Journey Through Time. In our 50th year, we wanted to provide an opportunity for our students to showcase their talents, tell a little of our early history and celebrate God’s faithfulness to MECS over many years. That all came through in this entertaining performance. A huge thank-you to Mr Tristan Forrest, our Music/Drama teacher who wrote the show and brought it together with a strong cast and a willing team of helpers. We love providing these opportunities for our students to shine! For those still to view the show - enjoy!

Father’s Day Stall

I hope that all our dads are looking forward to being celebrated next weekend and hopefully spoiled from our Father’s Day Stall which will be held next Thursday 31st August. As has been our focus over recent years, we only sell fair-trade and locally made items. This year, the Year 11 Business Management students will also be running stalls as part of their studies and assessment. Thanks for your support. Please make sure your child comes to school ready to support the school in this way, and bless their dads with a lovely gift!

Working Bee

Next Saturday, 2 September, also sees the start of our spring Working Bees. We really appreciate the support of so many parents and students who come along to assist the school in this way; we certainly couldn’t keep our school looking so beautiful without all the hours of work that is contributed at our six Working Bees across the year.

On Leave

I will be off on long service leave for a couple of weeks at the end of this term, so I look forward to seeing you all at the beginning of Term 4.
