Please join us for St Augustine’s Day Celebrations

On Monday 28th August, our whole College will celebrate the Feast of St Augustine of Hippo. A number of exciting events will take place on this day and we invite parents and friends to join us from 11.30am to celebrate.

Cupcakes

As a tradition at the College, we are seeking the help of parents to bake cupcakes for our students to enjoy at recess and ask that any parents or caregivers who can assist with this task, complete the Google form via this link and deliver cupcakes in clearly labelled containers to the Brigidine Centre between 8.30am and 9.00am on Monday 28th August. The College will prepare a small amount of cupcakes for those students with special dietary requirements. If the form does not accept your response we have reached our goal of 800 cupcakes. Thank you to those who have already nominated to bake for us. It is much appreciated!

St Augustine’s Feast Day Mass and College Captain Applicant Speeches

At 11.30am on Monday 28th August we will have a whole school Celebration of the Eucharist and we invite all parents, family and friends to join in this celebration. Our wonderful Choir will be singing.

Our College Captain applicants for 2024 will present their speeches at the end of the Mass.

Family Picnic - Monday 28th August

Following the College Captain speeches, there will be an opportunity for a Family Picnic to be held on the Parish Lawn between the Parish House and the Church. Families are invited to bring picnic blankets and chairs and lunch for your family to enjoy together. We recall that fish and chips have been a favourite in the past!

Lone Pine Ceremony - Wednesday 30th August

Our College is looking forward to hosting our Lone Pine Ceremony on Wednesday 30th August at 10.00am. This Ceremony will be attended by our Years 5 and 6 students and parents and caregivers are most welcome to attend. We look forward to hosting our local Legatees and other special guests in our community. This Ceremony is scheduled to take place outdoors near the Lone Pine Tree.

Beaut Blokes Breakfast and Footy Colours Day

On Thursday 31st August we will be hosting our annual Beaut Blokes Breakfast and invite all families to come along. Students are encouraged to wear their footy colours on this day. Further communication about the day will be circulated to families soon.

Sock It to the Can

Our Catholic Social Teaching Leaders are running a Winter Appeal of non-perishable items and/or winter woolies that will conclude on 4th September.

Each TA has a Vinnies bag to try and fill. Many TA groups are off to a great start!

2024 Student Leader Applications close next week

We have received a pleasing number of applications for our Student Leadership positions for 2024, but we’d like to see more! Please encourage your child to apply for a role. To do this, they need to be logged in to their school email account. Your child’s TA can help them complete this task.

Applications from current Years 3, 7 and 11 students for our 2024 Student Leadership Team are open until next Wednesday, 23rd August.

The Information Package can be accessed here. It includes the position descriptions, process (how to apply) and timeline. Being a part of our Student Leadership Team is a great way to give back to our community, make friends and develop your leadership skills.

If you have any questions please email or speak with your Community Leader or Ms Kylie Morrissey.

Earthcare - please help us!

We are consistently working with our students to teach them about the importance of putting their rubbish in the correct bins at school. Our yard duty staff remind students to ‘leave no trace’ which is one of our SOLE Matrix mantras. Parents can partner with us by using this phrase to remind students about the importance of taking responsibility for litter and minimising their impact on our Earth. Parents can also support us by reducing the amount of soft plastics brought to school in lunchboxes. This is called ‘nude food.’ Woolworths has one resource that can help parents to make small changes and minimise waste.

College Magazine Cover Design Competition

We are running a front cover design competition for students for our annual college magazine, Tarkarri, which will be published at the end of the year.

Please encourage your child to enter a design in the competition!

St Augustine's Years 7-12 Writing Competition 2023

The theme for our 2023 Writing Competition is IGNITE YOUR INNER FLAME!

This theme calls you to write about something you're passionate about! Topics and issues you want to spark thought in people and ignite curiosity.

You can write either a fiction or nonfiction piece, and they can be in any format (think poem, essay, creative, song etc).

This year, we have decided NOT to put a word count on the competition! After all there is no limit on representing issues important to you!

The competition closes on Friday 1st September. And winners will be announced at the End of Term Assembly!

To submit your entry, please follow the Google link below.
