Principal Update

Melissa Mackenzie

As we approach the end of term the last week is full! We have the Year 4 camp on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday followed by the 2-6 concert rehearsal on Thursday with the performance on Thursday night.

On Friday, the last day of term, we will celebrate with All Sports Day where students can come dressed supporting their favourite sport. We will have an early dismissal at 2:30pm.

We said goodbye to Andrew this week as he moves to work closer to home. He has supported students for many years and has been an integral part of our inclusion program. The staff wished him well and recognized his contributions on Monday. We welcomed April into the community on Monday as she begins a four-week internship with us. April is an aspiring Principal and will be shadowing me and working with staff to learn more about leading in schools.

As the weather gets warmer I would like to remind parents that we are a SunSmart school which means that students are required to wear a hat when outside from Term 4 onwards. It is timely to find the broadbrimmed hat and ensure it is named ready for next term.

Today we recognized RU OK Day. Students and staff were encouraged to wear yellow and will complete some class activities about caring for others and checking-in with others. The staff are also involved with a lemon bake-off for morning tea and our meeting tonight is about strategies to try when feeling overwhelmed. It is a good reminder to stop, take stock, plan and then take action.

I hope you all enjoy the beautiful weather for the next few days

Have a great week

Melissa Mackenzie

Principal

It is with great excitement and gratitude that I introduce myself as a participant in a Principal Preparation course, currently on a four week internship at Alphington Primary School. I am currently an Acting Assistant Principal at a school in Mitcham, that has 700 students. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to be a part of your school community, working alongside dedicated educators and staff who are shaping the future of your children. This internship represents a significant milestone in my journey towards becoming an educational leader, and I am eager to learn, collaborate, and contribute to the vibrant learning environment that defines Alphington Primary School. Thank you for welcoming me into your community, and I look forward to a rewarding experience ahead.

Kind Regards,

April Warfield
