Alex Gadomski Cup

That is a wrap for the 2023 Alex Gadomski Cup Gala Day! Thank you to The Hutchins School for hosting the day, in what is a very significant occasion for both schools and in support of the Alex Gadomski Fellowship.

Events like this don't just happen without the tireless work of countless staff, volunteers, coaches, commentators and umpires (AFL Tasmania).  Thank you to everyone that made the day such a tremendous success.

Special mention to DUFF TV for their generous time and willingness to support school football and the Alex Gadomski Cup. Full match highlights can be found at: https://www.youtube.com/live/Y3owv5K_edU?si=zAirFlMWekhmkOC7

And lastly, to the students who wore the V and our College badge with such pride.  The Alex Gadomski Gala Day is so much more than football, and you all put on a show to be extremely proud of.

Results were as follows:

Match 1 - Year 5/6 Alex Gadomski Cup

Hutchins 7.6.48 def St Virgil's 2.0.12

Medal of Courage awarded to Stuart Zeeman from Hutchins

Match 2 - Year 7/8 Alex Gadomski Cup

St Virgil's 8.2.50 def Hutchins 5.4.34

Alex Gadomski Cup and SSATIS 9/10 Championship

St Virgil's 9.9.63 def Hutchins 6.6.42

Alex Gadomski passed away at the age of 21 after a five-year battle with Bone Marrow Failure Syndrome.  Alex showed courage in the face of adversity.  Courage comes in many forms and the Medals of Courage were awarded to the players who in their own way, showed courage on the football field today.

"Courage isn't an external, unattainable force, it lies within, ready for you to embrace it."

Good luck to Team sVc (Year 9/10) who will now take on Clarence High School in the coming weeks, for the right to play in the Tassie Hawks Cup Finals at UTAS Stadium later next month.
