R U OK DAY!

Thursday September 14 is RUOK? day. RUOK? day encourages us to check in with each other, to start the conversation that could change a life. By starting a conversation and commenting on the changes you’ve noticed, you could help that family member, friend or workmate open up. If they say they are not OK, you might be able to show them they’re supported and help them find strategies to better manage the load. If they are OK, that person will know you’re someone who cares enough to ask.

Students in Years 7 to 10 will be doing activities in Academic Pastoral Care on Friday that will give them some skills to start the conversation. We also have students assisting at the Peeches Breakfast on Thursday morning.

If you would like further information on this great initiative or tips on how to support a family member or friend the RUOK website has great resources and information.

I am pleased to advise parents of a wonderful new resource that you can now access. The College has partnered with cyber safety educators, Safe On Social, to offer our parental community access to their Safe On Social Parent Program. The Safe On Social Parent Program is an easy to use program you can access anywhere, anytime. Designed and taught by cyber safety experts with busy parents in mind, this down to earth, relatable and current content is how you can stay up-to-date with what your kids are accessing and doing online, all the while educating, informing, and empowering yourself to have important conversations.

The college will be working with Safe on Social in 2024 to educate staff, students and parents in ways to navigate the online world. The aim is to build a safer more empathetic online world for everyone. In conjunction with this program we now have access to a vast array of resources.

Safe on Social have given us immediate access to:

● Short, easy to understand videos on key online safety topics
