Transition and Pathways
Two members of the Australian Defence Forces (ADF) came to speak to the students about careers, and pathways, into the ADF. With over 300 jobs to choose from, there was plenty to talk about. Thirteen of our Year 10 -11 students enjoyed the conversation. Did you know that Year 12 students can apply for a gap year as an officer and earn $85,000 in that year? Something to think about!
ICM VISIT
On Friday 1st September a representative from the International College of Management Sydney (ICMS) visited MCC to speak to students in Year 12 Business Studies and Business Services. The International College of Management, Sydney is a higher education provider offering degrees at the diploma level and above. ICMS offers diplomas and degrees in a variety of fields related to business, hospitality and international tourism.
The ICMS is located at Manly Beach in the beautiful building that was once Australia's first National Catholic Seminary in 1889. Land on North Head Reserve was granted to the Catholic Church by the Australian government to build a seminary in 1859, but it was only in 1885, under the direction of Sydney’s third Archbishop, Cardinal Patrick Moran, that work began. Well known 19th century architects, Joseph Sheerin and John Hennessey, designed the seminary in a blend of neo-Gothic and Romanesque styles. The designs of the architects were outstanding and the pair were awarded a medal for the architecture at the London’s Colonial and Indian Exhibition of 1886.
