Principal's Report

World Teachers' Day
Tomorrow, we celebrate World Teachers’ Day, an opportunity to recognise and thank our dedicated staff for the incredible work they do each day to support, guide and inspire our students. Teaching is a profession that requires passion, patience and care — qualities our teachers demonstrate in abundance. On behalf of the College community, I extend my heartfelt thanks to all of our teachers for their ongoing commitment to creating a positive and engaging learning environment where every student can thrive.
Year 12 Graduation & VCE Exams
The Graduation Dinner at the MCG on 17 October was a fitting final celebration for the Class of 2025. Congratulations once again to our graduates, and sincere thanks to Sean Leith and the team for their outstanding organisation of this memorable event. Special congratulations to Emerson, Emily, Olympia, Santiago, Lily, Kiara and Indianna, who were each awarded scholarships on the night through the generous support of the Beaumaris Secondary College Foundation, established by Bridget Hsu-Hage.
We wish our Year 12 students all the very best in their remaining VCE exams and extend these wishes to our Year 11 students undertaking Unit 3/4 subjects. Thank you to Heath Tregear for his efforts in ensuring exams run smoothly.
Rising Star & Strive Awards
On Monday, we celebrated our Strive and Rising Star awardees at our whole-school Approach to Learning assembly. Strive Awards recognise students who have ranked in the top 5% for learning behaviours throughout the year, while Rising Star Awards acknowledge students who have demonstrated significant growth in their approach to learning acrossmultiple subjects. These students have shown noticeable improvement in their mindset, effort and work habits compared to the beginning of the year, reflecting their commitment to personal and academic development.
It was wonderful to have parents and carers join us for the occasion, and a special thank you to our talented student musicians for their outstanding performances. Congratulations to all recipients on this well-deserved recognition.

A Heartwarming Act of Kindness
We were delighted to receive a message this week from a member of the public who witnessed a beautiful act of kindness by two of our Year 8 students, Milly F and Hannah C, on a train into the city.
When an elderly passenger was struggling to reach the exit, Milly and Hannah immediately stepped in to help — assisting her to the doors, ensuring she exited safely, and waiting with her until she was steady on the platform.
Their compassion, initiative and maturity perfectly reflect The Beaumaris Way and the values we strive to instil in all our students. Thank you, Milly and Hannah, for demonstrating such care and empathy — you’ve made our whole community proud.
Year 7 2026 Information Evening
Our Year 7 2026 Information Evening was held on 16 October. Current students shared their experiences with enthusiasm, and our performers provided a fantastic showcase of talent. We sincerely thank the Parents’ Association for their contributions and Deb Kirk for coordinating the event. We look forward to welcoming our 2026 Year 7 students again on Orientation Day on 9 December.
BSC Ladies' Lunch
Special thanks to Beth Wallis and Kelly Lawrence from our Parents’ Association, along with their team of helpers, for their outstanding efforts in organising the Ladies’ Lunch. The event was a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together and enjoy an afternoon of connection and laughter. We are also very grateful to local and national businesses for their generous contributions of raffle prizes, lucky door prizes and silent auction items. Please see the Support Those Who Support Us page of this newsletter and support them where you can.
State Athletics
A big congratulations to Olivia V, Kiara M, Amelie D and Arley H for their outstanding performances at last week’s State Athletics Championships. Representing Beaumaris Secondary College at this level is an incredible achievement, and we commend them for their dedication, effort and sportsmanship.
Year 7 Cultural Day
Last week, our Year 7 students took part in a day of cultural exploration, celebrating the languages, traditions and creativity of French, Japanese and other cultures. Activities included African drumming, French cooking, and Japanese Taiko drumming and calligraphy, along with delicious crêpes from Crêpes for Change and sushi for lunch. The day promoted intercultural understanding while supporting youth homelessness. Thank you to Phoebe Wardlaw, Maiko Yamane and Fernando Pablo for their outstanding organisation and commitment to this meaningful event.
Staffing Update
We’re pleased to welcome Bridget Harty, who has joined our team for Term 4 as Receptionist.
