A new transition to school initiative

As part of our Preschool to Kindergarten transition program, we will be partnering teacher-identified K-2 High Potential and Gifted students (Junior Leaders), in the social-emotional domain, with children from our preschool. The Junior Leaders will be mentoring the preschool children in how to use and play playground games in preparation for their entry to Kindergarten 2026. There will be a variety of games and activities that will focus on the school's Positive Behaviour for Learning expectations as well as fundamental movement skills.

The purpose for the Junior Leaders is to give them the opportunity to develop their leadership potential and assist in building positive connections with the younger children. This will be a 4-week program, which started last week.

The Daily Telegraph will be coming to do a story about and photograph the program on Tuesday. We will keep our families informed about when the story is published and will publish photos in our next newsletter.

Parent/Carer Survey

As a school, we reflect on our practice and look for ways to improve. This week, we will be sending out a Parent/Carer Survey through School Bytes. By completing the Parent/carer survey, your insights will help us better understand the views of our school community and identify ways to improve. The survey will remain open for Weeks 6 and 7. If you have any questions about the survey or need assistance to complete it, please contact our school office.

Lost Property

As the weather warms up, the jackets come off! The jackets remain either where the student left it while playing or they are brought to the 'lost property' area, just outside the school office. For those with names on them, the jackets or hats are often returned. However, many jackets and hats do not have names and therefore it is almost impossible to track down their owner. We understand how frustrated families are when they have to keep replacing these items.

There are currently many items in the 'lost property' area. I encourage to parents to come to school and look through the lost jackets, hats and other items.

Celebrating Student Success

There have been several reasons to celebrate our students in the past week. Events included:

  • Senior Boys Basketball competing at the NSW State Basketball Championship

  • Our Lion Dance Troupe performing at a local school's Multicultural Day

  • Students competing in the school Public Speaking Competition and the winners going on to represent our school at the Cowpasture Network Public Speaking Competition.

Please take a look at the pages in this newsletter for more details and a huge congratulations to all involved.
