Year 3/4 News
Leannder, Sean, and Soraya
We are pleased to share that Sean and his wife have welcomed the arrival of their daughter, Violet. All three are doing well. We wish their family every happiness as they settle into this exciting new stage of life.
We are pleased to welcome Sarah to our school community. Sarah will be taking care of the classroom during Sean’s absence. She is looking forward to getting to know the students and continuing the wonderful learning that is already happening in the classroom.
In Numeracy, our Year 3 and 4 students have been learning how to collect, represent, and interpret data. We have explored column graphs and pictographs, learning about their important parts such as axes, keys, labels, and frequency. Students have collected data from their classmates, organised it in tables, and used their information to create clear and accurate graphs. They have also been developing their questioning skills by asking and answering questions about the data they gather.

We are also working hard to improve our times table knowledge through a daily 5-Minute Frenzy challenge. These short bursts of practice are helping us build quick recall of multiplication facts, to strengthen our understanding across all areas of mathematics.
This term, our Year 3 and 4 students have begun a new novel study based on Finding Our Heart by Thomas Mayor. This beautifully written and illustrated book helps children understand the meaning and message of the Uluru Statement from the Heart — a call for recognition, truth-telling, and a better future for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The book invites young readers to think about fairness, identity, and belonging, while also developing their comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills.
