Inquiry

This term, we explored the topic of family and how it changes over time. Students brought in family photos and shared special stories behind them, helping us appreciate the unique bonds in every family. Using these photos, we created drawings of our own families and learned about family trees, discovering how families grow, and change across generations.

Literacy

In Literacy, we have been focusing on trigraph sounds in reading, including /igh/, /ear/, /eer/, /are/, and /air/. We practiced identifying these sounds in words, spelling them correctly, and using them to build sentences. In writing, we worked on recounts of our holidays. Students learned to use time connectives like first, then, next, before, after, and finally to structure their paragraphs clearly. This helped us organize our ideas in a logical order and improve the clarity of our writing. The students enjoyed sharing their holiday experiences while developing important reading and writing skills.

Mathematics

In Maths, we have been reviewing place value with 2-digit and 3-digit numbers. Students practised using blocks to represent ones, tens, and hundreds, helping them build a strong understanding of number value and how numbers are made. We also explored fractions, focusing on halves, quarters, and eighths. Using real-life examples like sharing apples, pizzas, and cakes, students learned how to divide amounts equally among their peers. These hands-on activities made learning about fractions fun and meaningful while helping students understand the concept of equal parts.
