School Council News

The School Council met this week on Tuesday, 21st October. The meeting kicked off with Grade 6 student Kora impressively updating the council on all the exciting student activities of late, including year-level camps, interschool sports, and the ever-popular Shark Tank unit. Who knew we had so many budding entrepreneurs walking our hallways?

Mat Montebello then took the council through planning for 2026. With shifting Department of Education policies and changing enrolment numbers, it’s a difficult job. If you know your family won’t be at Williamstown Primary next year, please let the school know.

With the Seaside Fair just around the corner, excitement (and the scent of sausages) is in the air. A massive thank you to Heidi, Sam and their team, who have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring together one of the biggest highlights of the school year. Funds raised will go towards upgrading the grounds under the shade sail and surrounding areas—so your fairy floss consumption will help create better play spaces. Win-win!

In the Buildings and Grounds Report, we heard about the upcoming Bluestone Building maintenance project, which is set to begin after the Fair. The junior toilets upgrade is also nearly complete, much to the relief of students and staff alike.

Finally, the Education Policies Subcommittee gave an overview of the Statement of Values and School Philosophy Policy. This important document outlines the values of our school community and shares our vision, mission, and goals and it's available on the school website for your reading pleasure.

School council’s next meeting is Tuesday 18th of November.
