Werte,
“Collaboration has no hierarchy. The sun collaborates with soil to bring flowers on the earth.” – Amit Ray
This simple truth speaks deeply to the way we approach learning at Living Waters Lutheran School. Our commitment to Project-Based Learning (PBL) is rooted in collaboration, not just among students and staff, but with you, our families and wider community.
In 2026, our students will once again engage with big questions that matter: questions that spark curiosity, demand creativity, and connect deeply with real-world issues and mean they are Free to Flourish. But before we begin shaping those questions, we want to hear from you.
You’re Invited: 2026 PBL Planning Meeting
We warmly invite all parents and caregivers to a Planning Meeting where we will seek your input to help formulate the big questions that will guide student inquiry in 2026. Your knowledge, skills, and community connections are invaluable in helping us design learning experiences that are authentic, relevant, and deeply engaging.
Whether you’re a tradesperson, artist, scientist, entrepreneur, nurse, volunteer, or simply someone with a story to share, your perspective can help shape the learning journey of our students.
Meeting Details:
Tuesday 5 November 4-5:30pm
Living Waters Lutheran School Hall
Interactive discussion, light refreshments, and a chance to shape the future of learning
As St Francis of Assisi reminds us,“Grant that I may not so much seek to be understood, as to understand.”
Let’s come together with curiosity, ownership, and connection - the very elements of healthy collaboration - to co-create something meaningful for our children.
Blessings,
Lisa

Two weeks ago I attended a special anniversary service at Kuprilya Springs, 7 km west of Hermannsburg. There are no buildings there, just a white cross, rock altar and dried up creek bed. But this is a highly significant place for the Western Arrarnta people and the Lutheran missionaries who worked among them for many years.
In the late 1920s a terrible drought hit Central Australia. Ntaria was badly affected. Out of the 51 children born between 1926-1929 only ten survived. Missionary FW Albrecht had a plan to pipe water from Kuprilya to the mission. It took a lot of convincing of the mission board, fund-raising across the country and hard work by locals (who dug the trench and laid the pipes through the heat of summer!) But eventually the pipeline was built.
One evening the tap was turned on but nothing happened. Everyone went to bed disappointed. The next morning some of the young girls went to milk the cows only to find water spraying from the tap some 10 meters in the air. ‘Kwatja, kwatja,’ they yelled, meaning ‘Water, water!’ The mission was saved.
Each year people gather at Kuprilya springs to celebrate this event. It is quite likely that without the Kuprilya pipeline, the mission would have closed, and the Lutheran church’s work in Central Australia may have ceased (that means no Living Waters school!) Thank God he provided this living water for his people!
In life we go through times of joy and times of difficulty, times of abundance and times of drought, times when we feel fulfilled and times when we feel we are lacking in some way. The Kuprilya story reminds us to hang in there. We have a God who watches over us and provides for us in unexpected ways.
At Living Waters, we highlight different families and staff members to pray for each week. Praying for people in our community by name shows that we care for them as God does. He knows and loves each of us individually, and when we lift others up in prayer, we recognise their value in His eyes. This strengthens our community by bringing us closer together, reminding us to support and encourage one another.

Reformation Day
Reformation Day honours Martin Luther's act of posting the Ninety-five Theses on the door of the All Saints' Church in Wittenberg.
Living Waters will be recognising Reformation Day at Worship on Wednesday 29 October. Students are encouraged to wear red on the day. Please make sure all clothing is sun safe.

Student Led Conferences
We will be holding Student Led Conferences on Wednesday 29 October between 3:00-5:00pm.
This is an opportunity for your child to show you their work, review goals they have set, and discuss how you can help them reach their goals.
Please note that this is not a time to talk one-on-one with the teacher about your child's progress. You are welcome to book a meeting for anything you'd like to discuss in private.

Reformation Sunday
On Sunday October 26th we will celebrate Reformation Sunday at the Lutheran Church on Gap Road. This is a special time to remember the beginnings of the Lutheran Church in Germany in the 1500s when a little-known monk by the name of Martin Luther found himself at odds with the Roman Catholic Church for questioning some of their practices. After posting his 95 Theses for discussion, he quickly found himself removed from the church. Those who followed him and found truth and comfort in his teachings we dubbed 'Lutherans.' Like all histories, the Lutheran story has highs and lows. But each year we pause to remember this heritage and what it means to be Lutherans living in Australia in the twenty-first century. Come along to our service at 9:30am Sunday week to learn more about the Reformation.
