Celebrating Diwali: The Festival of Lights

We hope our school community members who celebrated Diwali enjoyed a festive time with family and friends, celebrating the values of light, hope and unity. A big thank you to Lekhya (2MT), Parneet (6ZD), Ivaan (1MV), Krishti (3JK) and their families for sharing wonderful photos of their celebrations with us!
Last week, our students in Year Three inquired into the celebration of Diwali, often known as the Festival of Lights. As part of our unit of inquiry How We Express Ourselves, students are exploring the central idea that Celebrations, commemorations and traditions shape and reflect culture.
Through this inquiry, students learnt where Diwali is celebrated, why it is celebrated, and the traditions, beliefs and history connected to this special occasion. They also made connections between Diwali and other celebrations around the world, discovering how people express joy, hope and togetherness in different ways.
Through this inquiry, students have strengthened their appreciation of ENPS’ diverse community, fostering a sense of belonging, inclusion and connectedness as they learn about and celebrate different cultures.
Below are some examples of learning in Year Three:
