MSC Intermediate Hockey Team Advances to SSV State Finals

On October 21, our talented Intermediate Hockey Team triumphed in a thrilling encounter against Orbost Secondary College to secure their place in the State Schools Victoria (SSV) State Finals.

Maffra Secondary College’s impressive lineup, comprising five Year 7, two Year 8, two Year 9, and four Year 10 students, showcased skill and composure throughout a nail-biting match that ended in a 2–2 draw at full time. The match result was ultimately decided by ‘shuttles’, an intense one-on-one challenge between attacker and goalkeeper, where our players rose to the occasion with courage and poise.

Under the capable leadership of captains Jesse and Connor, every team member displayed determination, teamwork, and a commendable willingness to take on feedback and adapt their play. It is particularly impressive that such a young side has achieved so much success in the 2025 SSV hockey season.

The team’s strong sense of unity, refined stick skills, and strategic play continue to develop with every training session and match. Year 10 student, Connor, was unofficially declared ‘Best on Ground’, delivering an exceptional performance that highlighted his effort, skill, and natural talent.

The team now looks forward to representing Maffra Secondary College at the SSV State Finals on November 10th 2025, at Footscray Hockey Centre. We wish them every success as they take on the best in the state!
