State Athletics Success

Maffra Secondary College Shines at State Athletics

On Monday, 20th October, four students from Maffra Secondary College travelled to Albert Park’s Lakeside Stadium to compete in the State Athletics Championships. Despite the wet conditions, all athletes represented the school with determination and pride, competing against the best in Victoria.

Congratulations to Balin Powell, Chani Aust, Kobe Parsons, and Lara Dowsett for qualifying and performing exceptionally at this elite level. A special mention to Chani Aust and Kobe Parsons, who both came away with medals at the State event.

• Balin Powell (15 Boys) placed 7th in the 100m Hurdles with a time of 19.50 seconds.
• Chani Aust (14 Girls) won Bronze in the Long Jump with a leap of 4.68 metres, finished 4th in Triple Jump (10.08m), and 7th in the 100m (13.86 seconds).
• Kobe Parsons (14 Boys) claimed Gold in the Discus with a throw of 44.07 metres, and also placed 5th in Long Jump (5.27m) and 8th in the 400m.
• Lara Dowsett (17 Girls) placed 7th in the 400m, an outstanding result at the State level.
