With the unexpected return to French in Term 3, students were again able to participate in the annual Tour de Worrigee, which has now been celebrated for 10 years!
The day involved:
1 period cooking the famous Croque-Monsieur - which, according to legend, is a dish created in 1910 in a Parisien café when they ran out of baguettes, so had to do something with regular bread!
Students were asked "What was the most valuable aspect of the day?" and here are some of their responses:
1. Doing scooters in the Park
2. Riding scooters to get exercise
3. Cooking, because I need to learn how to cook
4. Learning a new dish to make at home
5. Cooking because I was hungry and it was yummy
6. Watching the movie
7. The movie because it showed us some skills on how to use what we learnt
8. Learning more about France and its culture!
When asked how to improve the day, one student wrote: 'I don't think you can really improve the day, it was really fun!' So another successful Tour has been completed.
Here is a list of the winners of the 10th Annual Tour de Worrigee in 2025:
The fastest riders:
1st Austin Pauperis 9 seconds
2nd Noah Munn 10 seconds
Riders who did the most laps
1st - Noah Munn with an amazing 6 laps (this is an all time Tour record!)
2nd - Jett White 5 laps
Winning female team: Zoe Croft, Larissa Guy, Violet Martin, Alexis French
Overall winners for 2025 Archie Broadbent, Joshua May, Will Stewart, Ethan Varga, Carey Perrin
Félicitations Année Huit ! Well done to all our winners and a fabulous effort by our Year 8s.

Our Junior Girls Basketball team achieved an outstanding result at the CSSA Zone Basketball Gala Day earlier in the year, successfully qualifying for the CSSA State Basketball Finals.
Elsie, one of the members of the team, shared a little about the experience at the State Finals:
"On Friday, 19 September, 7 x Under 15s Girls attended the State Basketball Gala Day. It was so fun. We started the day at 5:30am, ready for our first game at 9am. Unfortunately we lost 24 to 0 but we definitely tried our best. Our second game was at 10am, this time we did score 2 points. We played in total 4 games and we had a lot of fun."

In September, our school came together to support Legacy Week, raising funds for Legacy Australia, an organisation that provides lifelong care and support to the families of Defence Force members who have lost their life or health while serving our country.
Legacy’s work is far-reaching. They assist families facing hardship by providing financial support and advocating for their rights and benefits. They offer social connection and care for those experiencing loss and grief, helping ensure emotional wellbeing. They also open doors for children and young people by funding education and development opportunities, helping families grow and thrive despite adversity.
Through our Cupcake Sale, students and staff helped raise over $630, a fantastic effort that will go toward supporting local families who have lost a Defence parent or spouse. Funds were presented to Mr Newing, Nowra Legacy Treasurer and NCS parent, who accepted the donation on behalf of Legacy.
A huge thank you to everyone who baked, decorated, sold and bought cupcakes. Your support helps Legacy continue its important work of care, connection and opportunity within our community — one cupcake at a time!

On Friday, 17 October 40 students from Years 3-6 headed to the Shoalhaven Indoor Sports Centre in Bomaderry to compete in the second ever Primary Zone Basketball Gala Day. For almost all students it was the first one they'd ever competed in, as we only sent two Year 6 teams to last year's inaugral event.
Our four teams were coached on the day by our Stage 4 students, Brendan, Alexis, Toby and Kaylee. These students helped train our primary students throughout Term 3, helped also by Connor, Noah, Felicity and Chelsea (also from Stage 4). It was so wonderful to see our older students 'giving back' by serving in this way. They had amazing rapport with students and teachers alike and were a credit to our school.
Tens of parents, other relatives and friends flocked to the venue throughout the day to watch their children in action on court during their matches. Each team played four games throughout the day with breaks in-between.
The matches were played in a wonderful spirit with fairness and sporting behaviour evident throughout. It was a joy to behold our students having fun on and off court, supporting one another and building team and school spirit. Lily I and Lily Y were goal scorers for the junior girls in their games. Noah P, Jaxon M and Noah P were some of the scorers for the junior boys. Jack B, Tom L, Ben N, Leon W and Zac S were some of the scorers for the senior boys. Beth D, Tianna K, Addi G, Heidi E and Matlida P were some of the scorers for senior girls. Sienna K scored perhaps the funniest goal of the day with an underarm 'granny shot (I'm told that's what it's called) from distance that dropped straight into the hoop with nothing but net!
Our Senior girls won all four of their games to take victory and claim medals for the Zone Gala Day. They have now qualified for Primary State Netball in Penrith on 10 November (Week 5). So congratulations to all ten girls in the squad for your tremendous achievement.
We asked our HS coaches to pick out 2 names for 'best and fairest commendations'. Here they are:
S2 boys - Jaxon and Noah
S2 girls - Ainslie and Lily P
S3 boys - Ben and Zac
S3 girls - Addi and Tianna
Thanks to all our supporters on the day, our students could hear you cheering them on whilst they were playing. Thanks also to Miss Matts for helping in so many ways throughout the day and in the lead up. Thanks again to all our Stage 4 student helpers for 'giving back' to our primary school by serving in the ways that your have.

Our students achieved stellar results at the recent NSWCIS Secondary Athletics Championships last term, where three secondary students - Layla M (Year 10), Emily (Year 11), and Jorden (Year 10) - competed with distinction.
A massive congratulations to Jorden, who achieved a gold medal and first place in the 16 Years Boys High Jump with an impressive leap of 1.81m.
Emily demonstrated remarkable versatility and talent, securing 3rd place in the 17 Girls Hurdles, followed by a strong 6th place in the 17 Girls 800m event and 10th place in the 17 Girls Javelin.
Rounding out the results was Layla, who put in a solid performance in the 15 Girls Javelin event, finishing in a highly respectable 5th place. We are incredibly proud of Layla, Emily, and Jorden for their hard work, commitment, and the outstanding way they represented our school.
