Helping Anxious Students Gear Up for Camp

Hi everyone,

This term, many of our students in Years 3 & 4 will head off on their school camp! This is an exciting opportunity, but one that can also stir up a lot of anxiety. This is a link that might help some families as they prepare for camp.

Is your child anxious about going on school camp? Here are 4 ways to prepare

Tips for your family & home to prepare:

  • Begin conversations about camp well in advance
  • Frame camp as an opportunity, not a threat
  • Include your child in planning (packing, looking up the camp, learning about the area)
  • Keep lines of communication open by letting them express doubts
  • Reinforce positive talk and celebrate effort, not just success

We’re excited for the 3/4 camp coming up this term and want every student to feel as prepared and supported as possible.

If you or your child have concerns or would like extra support, please reach feel free to contact me. Sometimes a conversation can do wonders to alleviate anxiety for families too.

Have a great week everyone!
