Nature Adventure Play
On Monday we had our first nature adventure play session at Frank Sedgman Reserve. The children popped on their excursion vests, and set off out of kinder, down the road towards the reserve.
We began with exploring the reserve, searching for insects, sticks and exploring the trees. The children found a rope which we used to turn into a pretend snake, or a tug of war game. Some children collected sticks and turned it into a pretend fire and a teepee.
During our visit, there was a gardener from the council who provided a spontaneous demonstration of using the big industrial lawn mower. She gave us a very informative talk about all the parts of the lawn mower and an up close look of the machine.
We then finished off our session with a sensory walk, focusing on what we could see, hear smell and feel. We heard birds, cars, a cricket chirping and running water. We saw a creek bubbling away and some beautiful flowers. We even saw a banksia flower - which is an Australian native flower.
A big thank you to Hann for helping us today!
We cannot wait for our next adventure next week :)
