Its so good to be back! Term 4 has started with a BANG so much is happening around the school. Check out what we've been up to and what's happening next.
Reading: In our reading sessions we have begun small group guided reading sessions that rotate daily. These small groups give students and the teacher an opportunity to work in a close environment, assessing fluency, comprehension and other reading skills. We have also started reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone as our class novel this term. Students have enjoyed reading the wonderful journey and comparing it to its movie counterpart.
Writing: In writing, students have been learning about persuasive texts. It has been interesting to see the arguments the students have created to win people over on their opinion of topics such as; Should school start later? Should all plastic straws be banned? Should students pick where they sit?
Maths: We have been busy learning about money. Specifically calculating the amount of change you should get after making a purchase with cash. Students have enjoyed buying meat pies, vanilla slices and chocolate Big M's with their made up money.
Humanities: We have begun unpacking our new History topic of Landmarks. Kicking things off with an awesome excursion to the MCG. (Pictures Below)
UKCies: Its Term 4 which means Ultimate Kickball Championships has begun. All the 3/4s have been split into 6 teams and they will learn the rules, strategies and teamwork skills needed for Kickball. Each week 4 teams will face off while the teams enjoying a bye round umpire. Its all to play for with the winners earning themselves a Movie time/Free time hour at the end of the term 4!
