As part of the Department of Education Primary School Nursing program to screen our students in Foundation, the school nurse will be visiting the College on 27th October, 2025.

An envelope with further information and a QR code to access the online School Entrant Health Questionnaire has been sent home with Foundation students.

We ask each family to complete the questionnaire as soon as possible. Please attend to the questionnaire by 20th October, even if you do not wish for your child to see the school nurse.

Thank you for your attention to this. If you require any further information, please contact Leanne Reed, F-12 Learner Diversity Leader, at the College.

Dyslexia Awareness Month

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month,  a chance for us to deepen our understanding of dyslexia and celebrate the strengths of learners who think and learn differently. Dyslexia affects up to 1 in 10 people and can impact reading, spelling and writing, but it is also linked to creativity, problem-solving and strong oral skills.

Do you have any old devices to donate?

Our Years 7 and 8 Outdoor Education classes are supporting Zoos Victoria’s Fighting Extinction – They’re Calling on You campaign.

We are asking everyone to bring in old mobile phones, tablets and accessories (chargers, cords, etc.) that you no longer use.

Why? 🦍 Recycling these items helps reduce the need for mining materials that destroy animal habitats, protecting endangered species like gorillas.

Every phone makes a difference:

  • 5 phones = health monitoring of a baby gorilla for a day

  • 10 phones = petrol for vets to reach the forest

  • 50 phones = anaesthetic for an injured gorilla

  • 100 phones = rain gear so vets can work in bad weather

📱 Where to donate: Phones and accessories can be dropped into the collection box at one of the following boxes:

  • The College Office

  • Year 7 Space

If you can, please unlock phones and reset them to factory settings. More information on data security can be found at https://www.zoo.org.au/phone/

Every phone counts – together, we can make a difference! 💚

They're Calling On You | Zoos Victoria

No one knows exactly how many Eastern Lowland Gorillas survive in the wild, but with 8,500 believed to be remaining they are Critically Endangered. The survival of every gorilla counts. You can help gorillas in the wild simply by recycling your phones . Every phone raises funds to support the work of the Gorilla Doctors, who provide life-saving medical care.

Communicating with Staff

We have the privilege of meeting with parents and connecting with families on various occasions across the year. At St Augustine’s College, we deeply value these opportunities to strengthen our partnerships and work together in support of our students. We recognise that parents are the first educators of their children and play a vital role in shaping their behaviours, both positive and challenging. Open and honest communication is key to fostering a supportive school environment and we are grateful for a parent community that shares our commitment to nurturing each child’s growth and development.

We ask that parents engage in conversations with our staff with respect, trust in our processes and support the follow-up actions necessary for their child’s development and wellbeing. Similar expectations exist in many other organisations and by working together with mutual respect and understanding, we can continue to provide a safe, positive and thriving learning environment for all.

Our staff are on site and available during the following times:

Monday:          8:30am - 3:45pm

Tuesday:         8:30am - 4:30pm

Wednesday:    8:30am - 4:30pm

Thursday:        8:30am - 3:45pm

Friday:             8:15am - 3:45pm

However, whilst these are the working times, our staff are busy organising and planning lessons, teaching classes and/or engaged in relevant staff meetings. We ask that if you wish to make contact with your child’s teacher, please contact your child’s TA for a meeting.

Communication via email is also appropriate during work hours, however please allow staff up to 48 hours to respond.  We thank you for your consideration in this matter.

Volunteer Registration Process

At St Augustine’s, the safety and wellbeing of our students is our highest priority.  To uphold our commitment to child safety, ALL volunteers are required to review and acknowledge our Child Safe Code of Conduct, Staff & Students Professional Boundaries Policy and Photography & Video Policy and Procedures.  Additionally, volunteers must complete a Volunteer Registration form and successfully complete the CESL School Volunteer Induction before commencing their role as a volunteer.

For more information and to access the Volunteer Registration Form, please visit the Volunteering information page on our College website.
