From the Principal

Dear Parents, Carers and members of the St Augustine’s College Community,

Welcome to Term 4 - always one of the busiest and most exciting times of the school year! Over the coming weeks, our students and staff will be deeply engaged in assessments, reports, excursions, transition programs and end-of-year events that showcase the wonderful learning and growth that has taken place throughout 2025. I thank families for their continued support as we work together to ensure a positive and productive finish to the year.

I am also pleased to announce the appointments of Alison Dietrich as Deputy Principal – Wellbeing and Nicholas Mellington as Deputy Principal – Student Learning & Professional Practice for 2026 and beyond. Both Alison and Nick bring exceptional experience, energy and commitment to their new roles and we look forward to the leadership they will continue to provide across our College community. With the earlier announcement of Rachelle Chapman in late Term 3 as the Deputy Principal – Catholic Identity & Community, our Executive team is prepared to enter 2026 with stability and a desire to make St Augustine’s College the best school it can possibly be.

In addition, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Meredith Lia as 9–12 Community Wellbeing Leader at St Augustine’s College, commencing in 2026. Meredith will join us from St Anne’s College, Kialla, where she has been working in a similar leadership capacity and has previously held roles at Notre Dame College. We look forward to welcoming Meredith to our College community in 2026.

Next Tuesday evening, 21st October, we are delighted to host a Parent Information Evening in the Kildare Auditorium from 6:00pm – 7:30pm. This event will feature a video by Dr Jared Cooney Horvath, internationally renowned Educational Neuroscientist, presenting on Stress, Tech and Sleep — exploring how stress, technology and sleep affect learning and wellbeing. The evening will also include a presentation from Mrs Steph Challis, St Augustine’s staff member and Director of The Phone Pledge, a community initiative helping families navigate the world of technology and social media with confidence and care. Light refreshments will be provided and I strongly encourage all parents and caregivers to attend what promises to be an engaging and informative session. Please RSVP via the Operoo.

This week also marked a significant milestone for our Year 12 students, who are completing their final days of secondary education. For many, this represents 13 years of schooling - an incredible journey filled with learning, laughter, friendships and memories. We encourage our graduates to enjoy their final week as we enjoy celebrating their achievements at their Final Assembly today.

As always, I thank all members of our community for their support, partnership and care. Term 4 is a time for both reflection and celebration and I look forward to sharing in these moments with you all as we conclude another wonderful year at St Augustine’s College.

Warm regards,

Tim Campbell
