Learning Specialists Update

As part of our school's commitment to improving student outcomes and creating an inclusive learning environment, here are some updates from the Patience, Priyanca and Lisa.

  • ‘Know Your Students’ Presentations

At the beginning of the year, staff participated in whole-school presentations run by LS and sub schools, focused on understanding cohort and individual student data. These sessions provided valuable insights into individual learning needs and cohort trends, supporting teachers to differentiate their curriculum.

  • PAT Testing across Years 7–10

PAT testing in literacy and numeracy was conducted across Years 7 to 10 to provide updated, evidence-based information about student capability.. This data will enable teachers to identify key areas for growth, ensuring classroom teaching is responsive and targeted.

  • Middle Years Literacy and Numeracy Strategy (MLYNS)

Using PAT data, we have started our Middle Years Literacy and Numeracy Strategy to identify and support students requiring additional assistance. This targeted intervention is designed to help students build strong foundational skills in literacy and numeracy and to support their academic growth.

  • Professional Learning Community (PLC) Cycle – Restorative Practice

In parallel with this work, we developed resources to initiate our next PLC cycle (Professional Learning Community) which focuses on restorative practices and building positive classroom climates. This work aims to strengthen relationships, promote student engagement and support a respectful learning environment. The cycle will continue into Term 2.
