Senior School Reflection

All Things Year 12’s
Our amazing year 12’s have just completed a very busy term with assessments, athletics carnivals, fundraising, concerts and lots of study. I want to thank them for their amazing efforts, resilience and maturity as they navigate the challenges of VCE.
Year 12 Leadership have raised funds for the formal in May to allow the tickets to be equitable for all students. They have run Sausage Sizzles, chocolate stalls, numerous bake sales and more. A huge thank you to all those families who have donated chocolate, baked or purchased raffle tickets in our endeavour to have a wonderful celebratory evening. Leadership have also made the impossible happen, for the first time in PHSC history we had our year 12 hoodies on the very first day of school. This was due to the tremendous dedication last year to design the graduation year of 2025 year 12 hoodies.
Congratulations year 12’s I am looking forward to another fantastic term with you.

Budding Entrepreneurs Take Over the School!
This term, our young business moguls across Year 11 have been diving headfirst into the world of entrepreneurship! With creativity and determination, students brainstormed innovative business ideas, conducted real-world market research, designed eye-catching advertisements, and set up shop to sell their products and services.
From handcrafted beeswax products and trendy designer T-shirts to house badges and professional car and window washing services, the school was buzzing with enterprise! The enthusiasm was contagious, and for some, the hard work paid off—quite literally—with impressive profits rolling in.
A huge congratulations to all students who embraced the challenge, showcased their business acumen, and turned their ideas into reality. Who knows? We may have just witnessed the rise of the next generation of business leaders!
Future Architects and Engineers in Action!
This term, our VCE-VM Numeracy students have put their mathematical skills to the test, stepping into the shoes of architects and designers! With creativity and precision, they researched and designed their very own Tiny Houses, bringing their ideas to life through detailed floor plans, front and side views, and scaled models.
But the challenge didn’t stop there! Students explored the science of insulation—calculating exactly how much would be needed and pricing it out—before taking it a step further to determine the perfect reverse cycle air conditioner size for their tiny homes.
A huge well done to all our future architects, engineers, and sustainability experts—who knows, we may have just designed the homes of the future!

Year 10 International Women's Day Assembly: Accelerate Action
On the 5th of March Our Year 10 students took part in an inspiring International Women’s Day Assembly, led by student leaders Ivy Calia and Charlotte Davis with support from Pathways Coordinator Trish Alevizos. Held in the library, the event focused on this year’s theme, Accelerate Action, highlighting the importance of breaking barriers and driving gender equality forward.
We were fortunate to hear from an incredible panel of professionals:
- Cr Sarah McKenzie – Deputy Mayor, Yarra City Council
- Dr Rachel Toovey – Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy, University of Melbourne
- Cr Ella Svennson – Psychologist, Family Therapist & Councillor, Merri-Bek
Students gained valuable insights into leadership, resilience, and creating change in their own lives. The panel’s stories sparked engaging discussions, leaving everyone inspired to take action.
A huge thank you to our panellists and everyone who attended – your participation made this event a fantastic success!
