Principal's Report

Celebrating Student Achievement

The school has been contacted by the Department Media Unit to engage with The Age who are preparing an article on the top ten government school VCE results in 2024.

Our school has been identified as the only school in the northern suburbs represented. I look forward to telling the story of the amazing work government schools are doing across the state – a story not told enough. I would like to take this opportunity to again congratulate our students, school staff and wider school community for our tremendous VCE outcomes.

The article can now be found here: https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/where-to-find-melbourne-s-best-schools-20250313-p5lja5.html

Buildings and Grounds Briefing

I am delighted and relieved that our Minor Works Grant and Basketball court/grounds project was completed on time and on budget - though taking an eternity to get an approved tender! It is delightful to see the basketball court fully functioning and surrounding areas enjoyed and appreciated by students.

At Mirimbah, building company Jointly has been assigned to the major Bushfire Shelter in Place (SIP) works and new subflooring and decks to the houses have been included in the project cost.  These decks are a priority to ensure the houses can be safely and more widely hired to support the financial sustainability of our extraordinary facility.

A planned Mirimbah working bee has been deferred while these works get underway during Term 2. We will alert members of our school community of a revised date as soon as work scheduling is confirmed. The Mirimbah working bee is a wonderful opportunity to join together with other families to explore, support and improve our amazing second campus!

Annual Implementation Plan 2025

Each year the school develops an annual implementation plan based on its 4-year Strategic Plan that addresses student learning outcomes and engagement, along with teacher and school practices, and student wellbeing. We have good evidence that our student learning, student engagement and wellbeing data are strong, including in comparison to 'similar schools' across the state.

We also understand that there is a profound medium and long-term responsibility for ensuring we do all we can to look after every member of our school community - in learning, engagement, and wellbeing. Consequently, our 2025 Annual Implementation Plan incorporates and reflects a renewed focus on student wellbeing, including sharing more broadly the work we do with our young people across the school.
