Principal's Message
Term 1 Week 2
Wrapping up my first full week at MPRPS, I can confidently say that I feel incredibly honored and excited to be part of such a welcoming community. The strong sense of connection, commitment to education, and collective passion for student success are visible throughout the school.
I believe that building strong relationships and truly understanding the people who make up the school is crucial to fostering a positive, supportive environment. The connections I’ve made so far have reinforced my belief that a strong community foundation is key to the success of any school.
Over the week, I have made it a priority to visit classrooms daily, engage with parents in the yard and on the gate, and conduct one-on-one sessions with each staff member as part of my effort to get to know our school community better. When students, parents, and staff feel connected and valued, it creates an atmosphere where everyone can thrive and achieve their best. I look forward to getting to know more of you over the coming weeks and encourage you to reach out for a chat when you see me around the school.
Our foundation and kinder students had a fantastic start to their school life, filled with excitement and new experiences. They entered their classrooms eager to explore the world of learning. Each day was filled with activities designed to help them settle into their new routines while fostering an early love of learning, teamwork, and independence. Teachers created a warm and supportive environment, offering guidance and encouragement as the children navigated their new surroundings.
We are looking forward to our Senior Swimming Carnival on Friday 14th February! The students will be participating in swimming races and novelty games in the shallow water. It promises to be a fun day for all students.
All students in Years 3 to 6 are expected to attend. Those who do to wish to swim can help out with ribbons, cheering their friends on and organising this fun event. Please ensure you give your consent and make the payment on Compass by Monday.
We look forward to a great day of swimming fun!
We are excited to announce that the Leadership Badges will be presented to our Grade 6 Student Leaders during the assembly on Monday, 10th February. This special ceremony will recognize the hard work, dedication, and leadership qualities of our Grade 6 students as they take on important roles in our school community.
The presentation will be a moment of pride for both the students and their families as we celebrate their achievements and commitment to making a positive impact.
Please join us in congratulating these young leaders for their efforts and dedication to their school responsibilities. We look forward to seeing you at the assembly!
At Mount Pleasant Road Primary School, we are thrilled to offer a wide variety of opportunities for teachers, students and families to connect. Our school fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone can engage, collaborate, and grow together.
We are eagerly anticipating our upcoming Information Nights and Meet and Greet sessions, where we will have the opportunity to connect with families, share important updates, and answer any questions you may have. These events are a great chance for parents and guardians to learn more about what’s happening at Mount Pleasant Road Primary School and to engage with teachers and staff.
Please be sure to check our ‘Important Dates’ section for the schedule, as we want to ensure everyone can attend and make the most of these valuable sessions.
Additionally, our Three-Way Conferences will be opening for booking later in the term via Compass. These conferences provide an excellent opportunity for students, parents, and teachers to come together to discuss progress, set goals, and ensure that each child’s learning journey is supported in the best possible way. Stay tuned for further details on how to book your conference times.
On Monday, Online Music Solutions visited our school during assembly to showcase the variety of musical instruments available for students to learn. It’s exciting to see that music lessons will begin on Monday, 10th, and many eager students have already signed up. However, it’s not too late to enrol your child! Pick up a form from the office.
In preparation for the upcoming NAPLAN assessments in March, students in Years 3 and 5 will participate in a practice test on Wednesday, 19 February 2025. This test is designed to familiarise students with the platform and conduct a school-wide Technical Readiness Check. Please note that academic data from the practice test will not be collected for assessment purposes. To ensure a smooth experience, all students in Years 3 and 5 must have the NAP Locked Down Browser App installed and updated to Version 5.8.23. Please check your child’s device and update the app before the test.
We are incredibly fortunate to have a wonderful group of parents and friends who actively contribute to our school community. Their support, dedication, and involvement play a vital role in creating a positive and engaging environment for our students. From helping in the classroom to organizing school events, their efforts are truly appreciated.
Our Parent and Friends (P&F) Coordinator, Leonie Semmens, will continue in her role this year, and we are excited to have her leading the way once again. Leonie is always looking for new ways to engage families and strengthen our school community, and we encourage everyone to get involved when possible.
Please keep an eye out for information on upcoming P&F meetings and events. Whether you’re looking to volunteer, participate, or simply attend a gathering, there will be plenty of opportunities to connect, share ideas, and contribute to school. Your involvement, no matter how big or small, makes a huge difference!
