Parents & Friends

Our first full week done, and a huge welcome to all our prep families who started this week.
P&F Meetings
Our P&F meetings for Term 1 will be held in the staff room at school on:
Wednesday 19 February 9:00am - 9:30am
Wednesday 19 March 9:00am - 9:30am
P&F meetings are open to all, and I would encourage you to come along and have a chat, and find out more about what we do.
Sub-coordinators
P&F in 2025 will look a little bit different, as we are trying to spread the organisational load across a larger group of parents. To achieve this, we have created a number of sub-coordinator roles.
A number of these have already been filled, but we are still looking for a few more enthusiastic individuals to help us out with the following:
- Raffle Coordinator (cake raffle, easter raffle and christmas raffle)
- Food Fundraisers Coordinator (hot cross buns, mangoes)
- P&F Administration
Sub-coordinator roles can be taken up by one person or a small group of people. However any events that don't have a subcoordinator will most likely not run in 2025. If you would like more information on what is involved or the time commitment required, please reach out.
I'm also on the lookout for someone super enthusiastic to take over as P&F coordinator in 2026. It would be really good to have someone on board this year to work with me and get across all the different things that are happening. Again, this role could definitely be shared between multiple people. If you're interested please let me know.
Class WhatsApp Groups
All class WhatsApp groups have been set up for 2025. If you have not received the details for your class chat, please email me at mprps.pf@gmail.com with your child's name and the class they are in, and I'll get you the right links. These groups will play an important role in our communications this year, alongside our notices and the newsletter.
We are also still looking for class reps for a number of our 3/4 and 5/6 classes, please reach out if you are interested in helping with that role.
Meet and Greets
Our term 1 events kick off next Monday with our Foundation meet and greet, Monday 10 February at 3:30 in the courtyard. All foundation families are invited to come along and meet school leadership, your P&F coordinator and Community Support Rep and all you other Foundation families. Zooper doopers will be available for all the children (and any adults who would like one).
Meet and Greets for our older students will be:
Monday 17 February - Seniors (grades 3-6)
Monday 24 February - 1/2 classes
Twilight Sports BBQ
Twilight sports is coming up soon on Thursday 6 March. P&F will be running a BBQ as we normally do, so please keep an eye out for the flyer which will come home soon. We'll need some help on the BBQ, all the signup details will follow shortly.
Secondhand Uniforms
P&F will also be holding our first secondhand uniform stall at Twilight Sports on Thursday 6 March, with any remaining items available on Friday 7 March. If you've had a clear out over the break and have any good condition uniforms you no longer need, please consider donating these to the school. All funds raised from secondhand uniforms go to help our students.
Uniform donations can be dropped off at reception any time. To help us save time, it would be great if you could remove any name stickers or cut off portions of tags that have names written on them.
Community Support Representative
Our Community Support Representative is Jess Walker, who has been part of the MPRPS community as a parent for over 17 years. Over her time, she has seen many changes at the school: staff, buildings, curriculum, events and many more. But the one thing that has never changed is the sense of connection and community our school offers. Whether it's manning a Mother's or Father's Day stall, cooking sausages at Twilight Sports, being a parent helper in the classroom or having a coffee catch up with other parents after drop off, these are all valuable connections to our school community.
Another way in which MPRPS fosters connection to the community is by aiding families who may need a helping hand. All families struggle with something at some time, and we can help make those times a bit more bearable. Some of the ways we can assist is by providing meals to families who are having a difficult time. This could be due to an illness or a death in the family, or any other form of hardship a family may be experiencing. We have also assisted families to borrow or be gifted items for school camps such as raincoats, sleeping bags and other essentials. If we can't help with your request, we will do our best to connect you with services that can.
Jess understands that sometimes it can be difficult to ask for help, and she would like to assure everyone that all requests from parents and carers are confidential. The community members assisting with the requests are not given the names of the family in need. You can send Jess an email or text, or you can ask a friend to approach her on your behalf. Chatting to your friends to bring awareness of this service would also help us spread the word.
If you believe we can be of assistance to you or your family, please email Jess on mprps.community@gmail.com or text/call her on 0433 050 092.
