Uralla Show
Here is some photo's from our students entries in the Uralla Show.
Secondary Update
This Friday our Year 10 students are heading to Thalgarrah Environmental Education Centre to complete fieldwork and collect data for an upcoming assessment task. The fieldwork will focus on ecosystem interactions and populations in the woodland ecosystem.
Last week's swimming carnival was a great success with good attendance and excellent participation in the races and novelty events. While no records were broken, we have many students who qualified for the zone trials in Armidale in the coming weeks.
Mrs Upjohn recently attended the Feeder Steer School 2.0 at UNE. The program covered topics ranging from the psychology of cattle to vaccination to cattle genetics. The information should prove invaluable when our students start preparing our calves for this year's steer shows.
Touch Trials
On Monday 17 February, 21 students travelled to Inverell to attend U15's New England Zone touch football trials. Both teams played against teams from Inverell, Armidale, Tenterfield, Guyra, and Glen Innes. The competition was very fierce with some really great touch played. Some of our players were playing in their first competitive games and really enjoyed the experience. Our teams learnt a lot through the day watching some highly skilful players from across the New England Zone. Becky Williams was picked in the Possible/Probable's and played very well throughout the day. Thanks to Mr Smith and Mr Auld for taking us to Inverell.
Brianna Smith - Junior Sportsperson of 2024
I was nominated for the junior sportsperson of the year award by my mum and pop. I compete in a range of horse sports and have had considerable success. A highlight for me was qualifying for the ABCRA Junior National Finals. I recently won the ABHA Junior 4D. I have also represented my school in Touch Football at the Central Schools Knockout finals in Dubbo in 2024. I feel honoured to win the Uralla Junior Sportsperson of the year for 2024.
